Ted Brooks, který má v Miami zubařskou ordinaci, zjistí, že je uveden v závěti, vydá se na Aljašku, aby převzal své dědictví. Jenže když tam dorazí, nestačí se divit. Nezdědil totiž peníze ale smečku tažných psů - jmenují se Démon, Nana, Scooper, Yodel, Sniff, Mack a Duchess. Po špatné zprávě ovšem může následovat ještě horší, Ted zjišťuje, že vychytralý horal Thunder Jack má na jeho psy zálusk a chtěl by ho vyštípat zpět do teplých krajů. A to je výzva, kterou Ted nemůže odmítnout.
